Recycled-Art Activities to Enjoy With Your Family in Huntsville, TX

Activities With Your Family | Huntsville, TX

If the heat of summer is keeping you and your family indoors, making your own at-home fun is only a recycling bin away. From your friends at Wiesner of Huntsville, here are some creative ways you and the kids can use common recycling to make your own cars, planes, and boats to take on an imaginary indoor adventure.

Toilet paper tubes

Instead of throwing away that bin of cardboard tubes, put them to good use by using them for crafts. With a little paint, some markers, a few stickers, and some wheels made from applesauce pouch lids, your kids can create their own paper-tube roadsters and race them through the living room.

Cereal boxes

A cereal box, or other tall food boxes, easily converts into a dashing double-decker bus for a trip around an imaginary city. And it’s big enough for action figures and other toys to fit into, allowing for all kinds of adventures.

To make an airplane, all your family has to do is gather up some clothespins and Popsicle sticks. The clothespins make up the body and the sticks make up the wings and propeller. With a little glue, you’ll be flying in no time.

Egg carton

Sail the high seas with a ship made from egg cartons. Create masts by poking straws into the carton and gluing paper to the straws to create colorful sails. Best of all, this boat will really float in a bathtub or sink.

Shoe boxes

A little construction paper on shoe boxes and you have the cars of a train. Tie them together with some string and the kids can take their stuffed animals for a spin.

We hope you and your family have a fun summer. And if your real car is in need of some not-so-imaginary maintenance, be sure to bring it to Wiesner of Huntsville for a checkup.

Maintaining Family Vehicles in Huntsville, TX

Maintaining Family Vehicle | Huntsville, TX

Keep your family vehicle working properly by performing regular maintenance and service. While family crossovers, SUVs, and other models need just as many oil changes and other forms of maintenance as any other vehicle, there are a few things that are especially important for family vehicles. These include checking the brakes, cabin maintenance, tire care, and more. Read on to find out why maintaining family vehicles is so important.

Brake maintenance is key for family vehicles, as it not only maintains stopping power but also gives you added peace of mind. Your brakes should be checked at least once a year, but you should also bring your car in if you notice squealing when you stop or pulsing in the pedal. You can bring your car to our Wiesner of Huntsville service center for a brake check or for new brake pads and/or rotors.

Checking the HVAC and cabin air filter is also important to keep your family comfortable on the road. You should replace the cabin air filter every 15,000 to 25,000 miles, approximately once every year or two. The HVAC system should also be cleaned and inspected, and the air conditioning recharged.

Tires are especially important to service on family vehicles to maintain safety. You should check tire pressure with every change of season, but also look for tire wear. If there’s any cracking, bulging, or bald spots on the tread, you’ll need new tires. Our service team can inspect your tires to make sure they’re still working properly, replacing tires when necessary.

The Last Chevy Impala

The Last Chevy Impala | Huntsville, TX

Chevy is evolving in a push to build more eco-friendly, cost-effective vehicles for our modern times. To make way for a new wave of powerful, capable, and innovative electric trucks, Chevrolet has put a halt to the long-running Impala nameplate. The last model rolled off the production line in February of 2020.

GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck factory manufactured the last Chevy Impala, a red sedan which was sold to an undisclosed private owner. This marks the third hiatus for the car, which was previously discontinued from 1983 to 1986, and again from 1997 to 1999.

The Impala started as a trim for the Chevy Bel Air in 1958 before becoming a standalone model. In 1965, a record 1 million Impalas were purchased, and it was the country’s best-selling car in 1977 and 1978.

The Detroit-Hamtramck facility will undergo renovations to become a plant for manufacturing electric trucks and SUVs. The first electric model will be the Hummer EV SUT for late 2021. The Cruise Origin electric shuttle will follow shortly thereafter.

Chevrolet expects to launch an all-electric pickup truck by 2025 to go along with an electric crossover SUV. These vehicles are part of an 11-vehicle wave created by Chevy to move towards a more eco-friendly future.

Information on the Durable, Revolutionary GMC CarbonPro®

GMC CarbonPro | Huntsville, TX

GMC CarbonPro® Edition models offer exceptional innovation and durability, particularly for the Sierra 1500 Denali and Sierra 1500 AT4 trims. This specially designed bed is the first of its kind to offer carbon fiber composite material, which delivers best-in-class scratch, dent, and corrosion resistance.

The CarbonPro® bed is designed with state-of-the-art carbon fiber materials, which are typically reserved for aerospace exploration or high-end racing. Because it can’t rust, the new bed design offers better resistance to corrosion, as well as scratching and denting. It’s also about 25 percent lighter than a normal steel bed, and the grained or textured surface eliminates the need for a bed liner.

The new bed has also been tested for a range of needs. For instance, GMC has performed drop tests — where heavy loads are repeatedly dropped to replicated extreme conditions — as well as corrosion, snowmobile, and extreme-temperature tests.

“CarbonPro® is made of the same raw material found in seven-figure super cars and even aerospace applications,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global GMC. “Coupled with offering the world’s first six-function MultiPro™ tailgate, the 2019 Sierra packs a one-two hauling punch for whatever the situation demands.”
